We at Magic Tours recognize that the tourism industry impacts local community and environment therefore as a tour operator we must manage the impact we create in the way we operate our business.
Sustainable Policy:
Magic Tours is committed to a style of travel that is environmentally, culturally and socially responsible - we call this 'Responsible Travel' or Sustainable policy. We strive to develop and operate a business that – on balance – leaves the world a better place, while still being financially viable. We are aware that the health of our environment, the wellbeing of people, the contribution to the local economy and the way Magic Tours does business overall are areas that are intrinsically linked to the success and longevity of our business. Therefore Magic Tours is committed to tackling the issue we face in each of these areas and will work towards responsible operations by including environmental, social, economic and ethical considerations in our business practices and in our decision making process.
Ecological/Environmental Impact:
Climate change is one of the most urgent problems of our time, so making a personal commitment to reduce your 'carbon footprint' is a big step in the right direction to achieving a healthier environment.
We maintain a small office in Sofia that recycle . We offset the carbon of our office and any produced by our activities.
Pollution and waste management is a huge problem throughout the world. We suggest avoiding plastic packaging where possible and take along your own bag when shopping. Plastic bags will be offered for everything - don't be shy in suggesting that it isn't needed. Don't be fooled by the rubbish bins on public transport as they may be emptied straight out the window! Collect and dispose of at the next town or hotel.
Bottled water is for sale in Bulgaria, but unfortunately there are few facilities for recycling of the bottles. Please try and minimize the waste of plastic water bottles. Consider packing a water filter, water purification tablets or iodine to purify drinking water. At some of our hotels there are large water 'bubbler' dispensers where you can refill your bottle with purified water for free or for a small fee.
Our aim is to educate Bulgarian people on environmental awareness by example, rather than through lecturing.
Social/Cultural Impact:
Our mission is to offer enriching travel experiences that enhance people's lives by broadening their knowledge and culture. We are devoted to introducing the cultural heritage of Bulgaria by providing first class services in combination of high level of educational and learning experience.
We use local, Bulgarian guides. We do brief our guides and ask the best possible sustainable practices are maintained. Our guides are best experts, lecturers and top professionals with in depth knowledge of our Bulgarian heritage and culture. They are not only guides, they become your friends, they tell you not only the facts and the dates, they give you the social, human, political, ecological perspective, they tell you the Bulgarian story in the most personal way. We employ Bulgarian guides to aid travelers' understanding of Bulgaria culture and etiquette. We provide opportunities for travelers to interact with Bulgarian people.
For small groups we use small family run hotels. We use local drivers and local experts in different fields. Using Bulgarian family hotels, Bulgaria drivers and Bulgarian guides and experts we help our local economy. Using smaller hotels we would like to show the local atmosphere. We would like the traveler to have personal experience. By travelling in that way we are keen about environmental and cultural impact that tourism can create on our country.
Bulgaria is rich in UNESCO World Heritage Sites. By visiting all these unique cultural sites we help the effort to save these unique cultural monuments for the future generations.
Economic Impact:
Firstly, we look for ways that we can shape our programs so that they have a minimal footprint on the places we are visiting. Secondly we include some amount of discussion about the traveler’s role in the social and economic life of Bulgaria. We use Bulgarian restaurants / hotels / bus drivers and provide the best possible service to Magic Tours travelers. Bulgarian food, cuisine and wines are part of our culture. We encourage the travelers to explore local restaurants, to try local food and local wines- try the fresh yoghurt, the strong rakiya (brandy) and the excellent local cuisine that embraces fresh fruit and vegetables. Bulgaria has beautiful red wines and the culture of wine making goes back to Thracian times. Local culinary delights are part of the joy of travelling! Eat Bulgarian food and drink Bulgarian wines and brandy and your money supports the Bulgarians, rather than seeking out imported familiar snacks and drinks from home. Buy handicrafts and art directly from the makers in Bulgarian villages when you can, rather than from fancy emporiums or department stores. This may help the maker to obtain a better price.
